How you spend your day is how you spend your life – don’t let life pass you by.
Know What’s Important
How you spend each day is ultimately how you spend your life. Knowing what is important to you is essential for optimal time management success. So how do we determine what is important? It is up to you to define what is significant and urgent in your life. Determine what may be a priority in your life but not necessarily a necessity will help narrow the scope and help decide what is essential to you. Some will be lifelong priorities, like family, and others may come and go, like achieving a degree. By determining what is important in your life and prioritizing it, it will set you up for success in the future.
Make a Plan
It seems obvious, but it is often overlooked. Write down your plan and know tomorrow’s plan today! By taking 10 minutes a day to make a plan, it could ultimately save you two hours of wasted time. And who couldn’t use two extra hours? Writing it out will help you stick to it. Consolidate your personal and professional responsibilities into one plan to help declutter, eliminate confusion and optimize the priorities. This will also help you to integrate a positive work life blend.
Just Say No
It is okay to say no! In our lives, we have the tendency to try to accommodate others needs and wants even when it inconveniences our plans. As women, we want to have time to do it all and make everyone happy. But, it is just not possible, even as much as we wish it was true. It is important to remember to protect your plan and stick to it. No one else’s time is more important than yours. So, it is okay to say no instead of rearranging your plan to make something work for others. Guard your plan and know when it is necessary to say no.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed with life and these three simple tips are just a start. But small steps can yield big results. If you are looking to optimize your time and get more accomplished every day, start with at least one and see how it changes your life. How you spend your days is how you spend your life, don’t let life pass you by.
